A Wheat Penny (without a mint mark) was made at the Philadelphia Mint in 1946. The mint mark is traditionally absent on Philadelphia coins, and so these are the most common of 1946. Although this version is common, is rich and is usually worth a few cents in circulated condition, uncirculated or high grade specimens are more desirable. Another type of error that can be extremely valuable to the collector is a doubled die or misstrike. The no-mint-mark 1946 Wheat Penny is easily available and a well-liked coin to beginners and even an experienced coin collector.
